On Thursday, July 9, 2026, Professor Puneet Tandon of the Indian Institute of Information Technology, Design and Manufacturing, Jabalpur (IIITDM-J) and Mr. Fuminori Yokote, Regional Coordinator of the Southwest Asia Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, visited Shimane University.
First, at the Japan-India Global Education and Research Center (JIGER), Prof. Puneet Tandon and Mr. Yokote explained their past educational and research initiatives with Japan.
Following that, an exchange of opinions took place with Prof. Yoshimi Kataoka, Vice President for Promotion of Globalization, and Dr. Hemanth Noothalapati, Director of JIGER regarding the possibility of collaboration with Shimane university.
Next, the group visited the Co-Creation Research Institute(Incubation Center)and toured the research facilities under the guidance of Prof. Hideo Miura, Vice President for Research on Material Science and Director General of Co-Creation Institute for Advanced Materials. During the tour, there was a lively exchange of opinions, deepening their understanding of the research activities being conducted at the university, and sparking discussions about future research exchanges.

Later, Prof. Tatsuyuki Yamamoto of the Faculty of Life and Environmental Sciences gave a presentation on research exchanges and past collaborative efforts between Shimane university and India.
Prof. Tandon and Mr. Yokote listened attentively and showed great interest in our university's research and international exchange initiatives.
This visit provided a valuable opportunity to broaden the possibilities for new exchanges between Shimane university and IIITDM-J, India.
JIGER will continue to support the collaborations and exchanges in both education and research in the future.
