On June 2, 2026, Shimane University welcomed the In-Country Representative (ICR) from the University of Tokyo India Office.
The visit aimed to deepen the ICR’s understanding of local student life to better inform prospective South Asian students about studying in Japan.
Six international students from India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, and Bangladesh shared personal insights into their research and the unique advantages of Shimane’s peaceful regional environment. The ICR, impressed by their experiences, expressed a keen interest in sharing these "real voices" with the students in South Asia who are considering studying abroad.
The visit included a tour of university facilities, highlighting our bilingual education initiatives that allow for learning in both English and Japanese.
This exchange marks a significant step toward increasing our international student community.
The JIGER center will continue to foster relations between India and Japan to support these ongoing global connections.
